This particular Pastor is like this, because he wants more than "CHAAAAAAANGE" in the collection plate. I would no more listen to a Pastor tell me who to vote for, than I would take moral direction from one! Who are they to tell me about either. I can read the "good book" and make my own decisions. But, I guess we would rather have Obama's Pastor telling us, God Da*n America, God Da*n America, "comin home", NO, NO, NO, etc., BS........!! I only took a couple of economics/math courses in college, but let's see..... Obama say's he went to church a couple times a month X 20 years! Using Nuclur (GW talk) math, that is about 40 visists to listen to the Crazed Lunitic of a Pastor, and not once did he hear the vile preachings of Mr Wright!! I refuse to call him a Reverend, because that title is used too lightly these days. Four more years of empty promises?? Isn't that what ALL politicians do? Although I disagree with the Warroad Pastor's tactics, I'll bet he doesn't say GD America!! He probably preaches in the only "red" county in Minnesota! I don't have time to "google" it. By the way, all Nixon did was tell a little white lie, like Slick Willie. And thanks to Forest Gump, Nixon was "outed"! And as for Roe -vs- Wade, I think that will get overturned within our lifetimes (some of us younger folks that is). One of them "Roe or Wade" is now having a guilt trip over her abortion. Go figure!!

I would not call any man a fool, even if he is foolish. But I think people act foolishly and focus foolishly and these pastors clearly have done so. I would like to ask our dear pastor, for instance, if he feels as strongly about divorce as he does homosexuality. Jesus clearly did, preaching against divorce numerous times -- never against homosexuality. And it is arguable that no-fault divorce has done more damage to the structure of American culture than most of the things these pulpit politicos focus on.
I disagree with the writer that "saving souls" is the extent of the duties a pastor has. Telling souls how to vote, however, is dangerous and foolish. If I had listened to Billy Graham, I would have voted for a corrupt man, Richard Nixon. If I had listened to James Dobson, I would have voted for George W., who did what he did.
Fact is, we have had ministers telling us to vote straight Republican ever since 1972 and many have. We have had Republicans in the White House for 20 out of the last 28 years. Most got elected by telling us they were going to undo Roe v. Wade. That has proven to be an empty promise.
So if we do vote for John McCain because some man of the pulpit decided to become a man of the ballot box, we will elect yet another four years of empty promises. And the issues like healthcare and a sane foreign policy and wise stewardship of the economy and the environment will fall by the wayside.

They will be missed so much but yet this is still his territory so he really is only 3 hours away.
His way of living and teaching is how Jesus the man lived. He cares for people so much and hopefully he can help in finding a replacment who has his abilities and retains his high church values. He and Becky were so involved in this community from taking part in play productions to Becky being the key in saving Backus in recent years,to Tom sitting on the Police Commission and his work with other churches to find solutions to concerns that we all have daily and in our journey to understanding what is real and what is not. To find time to affect your community as a whole and also serve your congregation is beyound ordinary. We need more people like this.

Congratulations to Tom. I cannot think of a better person for the position. He has always been such a caring person to all. He helped us out alot when my wife was sick. I feels sorry for the town of International Falls for losing him but I feel happy and proud to know a person like him. Good Luck to Rev. Tom and Becky. You will be thought of alot. Bill Erickson
