Interim pastor shared gifts with community

An interim pastor is not just one who provides a segue for a parish following the loss of its pastor until the next arrives.
It has been said that the ministry of transitional pastors is crucial, that they come into a church in a unique period of its history and have unusual opportunities of service.
Jill Warner has taken that opportunity and used it bountifully, according to several who have gotten to know the woman during her accrued nine years of service to the area.

Holy Trinity leads state shoe drive

The Borderland community led the state in a shoe donation drive.
Members of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church of International Falls brought shoes collected in the area to its state Diocesan convention last month in Rochester. When the boxes were counted, Holy Trinity brought more than the 106 other churches.
The program benefits Soles4Souls, a Nashville-based international charity that distributes the shoes to victims of impoverished areas of the world. It is concentrating this year on victims of the hurricane season.

Zion Women plan November meetings

The following November Circle meetings are planned by Zion Lutheran Church Women.
Tabitha Circle will meet at 5 p.m. Monday with Clarice Turry as hostess and Bible Study by Audrey Forrest.
Sarah Circle will gather at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Joyce Bolstad will be hostess and Bible Study will be by the group.
Martha Circle meets at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday with Marjorie Gerlach as hostess. Bible Study will be by the group.
Altar Circle will meet for a 5 p.m. supper Thursday at the Chocolate Moose, then gather at the church at 6:30 for Bible Study.

Lutheran Women’s Missionary League sets Fall Rally for Oct. 22

The Fall Rally of the Bemidji-Park Rapids Zone of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League is scheduled for Oct. 22 at First English Lutheran Church, Dorset. The theme of the rally is “Walk in the Light.”
The day begins with registration and morning coffee at 8:30 a.m. with the rally beginning at 9:30. Opening devotions will be led by Pastor Chris Davis, who will also lead the Bible study. A skit will be presented by the Bagley Society.
