Audit shows Littlefork financially sound

Littlefork will have a new skating rink.
With the city’s maintenance department providing the labor, the council approved Thursday a transfer of $3,600 from the city liquor store fund to build a new rink at the same location in city park. The existing rink is in a significant state of disrepair.
Dave Cronin of the Miller McDonald accounting firm gave the city of Littlefork a positive annual audit report at the June council meeting.
“We’re in very good shape,” said City Administrator Mike Fairchild. “With five to six months of reserves the average, Littlefork has seven to eight months of reserves. There were no deficits in any funds.”
Fairchild did note that the ambulance service, because its budget was not amended for scheduled training costs, did have expenditures which exceeded the budget.
May sales for the Littlefork Liquor Store are reported at $34,800; an increase of $1,600 above the previous May. Year-to-date sales are $144,000, an increase of $10,000 over the previous year and showing a year-to-date profit of approximately $7,000.
The council approved the Littlefork Medical Center 2007 audit report.
The council also approved a donation of $1,000 from a Koochiching Development Authority grant, to the Northern Minnesota District Fair as well as the donation of labor from its maintenance department for incidental grounds work needed for the fair.
