Comprehensive plan should streamline bureaucracy

A plan that will determine where growth in International Falls is likely to occur and develop a strategy for wetland protection and mitigation is moving forward.
David Serrano of Arro of the North reported to the International Falls City Council Monday that development of a comprehensive wetland protection and management plan for the city is on schedule.

In addition, VNP staff remind hunters that hunting and trapping of any type or manner are prohibited on national park lands and all waters within the boundary of the park. Park rangers enforce the hunting and trapping prohibition under federal regulations, which carry a maximum penalty up to $10,000 and/or six months in jail for misdemeanor violations and $20,000 and/or five years in jail with forfeiture of hunting equipment for felony violations.

Coming off a third straight championship in the Bigfork Tournament, the Littlefork-Big Falls Vikings suffered one of its most disappointing defeats of the fall in a 3-2 loss Monday at Tower Soudan.

Does it really matter where our so called enemies are from? It is all based on lies anyway. Why should we believe anything we are told about enemies being from the Middle East or anywhere else when we are told nothing but lies to justify war anywhere so far? The basic problem seems to me to be war itself and the propaganda that goes with it. War has always been a means to bolster failing economies world wide.

Minnesota Chamber of Commerce says mood will carry over to legislature session

Minnesota businesses are increasingly pessimistic about the economy and the challenges it poses for their operations, according to a survey of business owners and managers commissioned by the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce.
Companies cited high taxes as the biggest barrier to doing business in Minnesota.

Nancy LaVigne has been named the permanent director of Home Care for the Good Samaritan Society of International Falls.
LaVigne, a member of the staff of the Good Samaritan Society skilled nursing center for the past eight years, had served as interim director since July, and plans to expand and grow GSS home care services.

The University of Minnesota Horse Team is offering a fall regional horse owner education program in Bemidji from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Northwest Technical College (doors open at 12:30 p.m). The program will offer researched based information and knowledgeable speakers identified specifically for that region by a committee of local horse experts and enthusiasts.
